Karigar is a Mac application for working with Hix, our own AI model. Hix runs on the Karigar server — a Mac mini we operate — and the app sends your messages there to generate replies. It is not an on-device model.

Private beta. Karigar is in testing and access is by invitation. Downloads are not open yet, and using Karigar needs an account we have approved, so there is nothing to install here today.

How it works

The app is on your Mac; the model is on our server

Karigar is a client. When you send a message, it travels over an encrypted connection to api.sutrar.com, Hix generates the reply there, and the text streams back to your Mac.

Karigar needs an internet connection to work. Without one, it cannot generate replies or open your conversation history.

Your data

What leaves your Mac, and what we keep

Karigar is a hosted service, so it is worth being precise about this rather than leaving it to be assumed.

  • Your messagesSent to the Karigar server to generate a reply. They are not sent to OpenAI, Google, or any other AI provider — Hix is our own model on our own hardware.
  • Conversation historyStored on the Karigar server and encrypted at rest. It syncs, so signing in elsewhere shows the same conversations.
  • Your accountAn email address, and which devices you have signed in on.
  • Usage logsBasic per-request records: the time, how many tokens were used, and any error. Not the content of your messages, and not used for advertising.
  • EncryptionIn transit over HTTPS, and at rest on the server. This is not end-to-end encryption: the server decrypts a conversation in order to build the next reply.

Requirements

What you need

Because Hix runs on our server rather than on your machine, Karigar itself is a small app with modest requirements.

  • ChipApple Silicon (M-series). Intel Macs are not supported.
  • macOSmacOS 13 or later.
  • ConnectionAn internet connection whenever you use it.
  • AccountAn email address, and an invitation — see the note above.

There is no minimum memory or disk requirement any more. The app does not load a model into your Mac's memory, so a 16 GB MacBook Air is a perfectly good client.

Getting started

Install, sign in, and wait for approval

Install Karigar

Open the disk image and drag Karigar to your Applications folder, like any Mac app.

Sign in

Enter your email address. Karigar sends you a six-digit code — there is no password to create.

Get approved

New accounts are approved by hand while the beta is small. You will see a waiting screen until yours is.
